NWR: AT&T service?

That is my big fear. So what if the phone is supercool if it doesn't work.
Any other votes?

I say 1 billion thumbs down on AT&T!!!!!!!!!!

I can not wait to get out of my ATT contract. . . . I hate them, i constantly dropping calls and in the city i have no signal at all. On LI i have no service in west hempstead on certain blocks and forget service in my apartment . . . find out about coverage where you are the iphone is cool but they need something to get customers cause i think their service is lousy. . .

I agree 100%.

They charge a fortune and don't hesitate calling the day after the bill is due if it hasn't been paid- but try getting in touch with them- forget it.

I wish I had the name of someone high up at AT&T so I can write a seething letter.

(Sorry- my cell phone service hits a nerve..lol)

Looks like I'm the only AT&T supporter. I've had them for....god, I don't even know how long. Do I get an OCCASSIONAL dropped call. Sure, I don't know any service that doesn't. But overall I've been very happy with their phone service and customer service. They've always been helpful and I love their price packages.
But, if you're dead set against AT&T.....is there any chance Apple will expand to other service providers...maybe wait a bit....this would also give you a chance to wait until the next version comes out w/all the kinks smoothed out.

I know. It would be much more practical for me to wait, get out of my current contract, etc. But, I'm DYING to get it. I should wait and see if Verizon ends up getting it b/c that's what I have now. I know that will be a 2year wait though. Where do you use your AT&T phone the most?

I use it everywhere. I live in Queens, work in lower manhattan, have friends on LI so I use the whole way out on the Southern State. I used it on the NJ Turnpike on my way down to the shore last week. And I just came back from Cape Cod and used it almost the whole way up in the car to Mass. My parents live in Rockland and I never have problems on the Palisades which is like nowhere land for awhile. I really don't ever have any ridiculous problems. I'm not saying it's perfect. But there is NO phone co. out there that is, i don't care what anyone says.

My father works for AT&T wireless and told me NOT to use them. He told me to use Verizon.

ETA - I also heard the current IPhone is set up for the old AT&T platform, which AT&T is trying to move away from. They'll probably have an upgraded IPhone in a year or two.
