I posted this on the 2011 boards, but wanted to make sure I posted here too because we teachers deserve to be recognized!!
Tomorrow is teacher appreciation day at Staples....in years past, they've given out some pretty neat things. I've shown my photo ID, staples teacher rewards card, a pay stub and even my union card!
One year, I got a flash drive...last year they gave out 1 inch hard cover insert binders with looseleaf and a pencil case with some pens, pencils, markers and highlighter! Check your local staples, but it's always fun to get free stuff

I went to staples the other night and asked for the teachers reward card and the '*****' sales girl who must have been 16 stated that I couldn't get one because I am not a teacher... I said yes i am I just don't have an ID. She asked where I worked I said a day care and she said that didn't count!!! I wanted to slap her face....

Daycare is the most unrecognized, underpaid and sometimes overworked of teaching! I don't even have a teacher ID either, actually ..... Hmmmm

I have an ID from my old school that I havent worked at since 2006. My school now doesn't give them but they didn't put the date on it so for all they know I could still work there. It totally saves me every time when I need a discount and I don't have any proof.

I hope that my fellow teachers know that you can also get 15% off at Michael's any day of the week by showing ID.
Sometimes showing a paystub will work too...try that. Tell them that your school doesn't have ID cards...see what else you can use!
