One of my good friends had a baby this week and I want to give her something special. I was told no toys or clothing.
For those of you with kids, whats your fave thing? Or those without any ideas???
I know one of my friends is giving her diapers so i don't want to do the same thing (even though I know how much she'll need em)
I was debating on a bond????

Bonds are a nice idea!! Also, what about getting her the book 'oh the places you'll go' by DR. Suess... it is such a great book.

Does she have a BOPPY pillow....It's great for when she is feeding the baby...She or the father can rest their arm on the pillow and support the arm and the baby's head..... Or you could find out what kind of formula the baby is using and buy some of that..... Or something from Things Remembered with the baby's name and birthdate and statistics on it.... HTH!!!

Re: NWR Baby gift
My friend recently had a baby and what I did for her was go to the Woodbury outlets in Monroe, NY. We went to the Harry & David store there and got a TON of her favorite candies, dark chocolate, her hubby loves peanuts - so we got him some stuff there. We put it all in a basket and threw in some onsies, blankets, etc.
She appreciated the fact that we thought of her and her husband and did something smaller for the baby. So many times the parents' get forgotten and everyone's taking care of the baby stuff..
HTH!!

I honestly have no clue what she has or doesn't have which is why getting a gift is so difficult. The baby was 3 weeks early and on the smaller side (5lbs 4oz). She was supposed to come home today and i'm hoping to possibly see her this weekend, though I don't want to impose.
She kept with jewish custom and didn't do a baby shower (its considered bad luck). She was VERY supersticious and didn't register for anything. I don't know if she's even planning on it at all. It's not really her 'style'. It's odd but I don't think she'd like anything from TR.
I like the book idea, maybe i'll do that and a bond.

Re: NWR Baby gift
If she has a registry at babies r us there may still be stuff left on it that she didn't get off her registry that would be helpful. Also I know from having my first that people always tend to buy clothes after the baby is born and they usually buy the most ridiculous things or the most ridiculous sizes its annoying. I think a giftcard somewhere would be helpful since babies cost A LOT and she can always use that for later use I know I WOULD LOVE THAT. Also cute things for the babies room. Like something personalized. A neighbor gave me one of those glass piggy banks decorated with the name and a baseball theme it was adorable. Things like that are always nice and not usually given. Those are just some things you can do.
