NWR: baby gift

My friend is 5 months pregnant. I bought her a really cute baby outfit. Can I give her a gift before she has the baby?

I know at baby showers its before baby is born so I guess its the same thing right?

from what i know Jewish people do not accept gifts before the child is born, its said to be bad luck.

so as long as your friend isnt Jewish... GIFT AWAY!

You can absolutely give a gift prior to the birth of hte baby.

Yes, some people do not want gifts before they have the baby. It depends on the person.

I also have friends that would accept gift and hand them off to someone else because they felt it was bad luck to bring baby stuff into the house. Italians can also be very superstitious about receiving baby stuff and some do not believe in showers. My Mom is Italian and I am not allowed to have a baby shower when I am pregnant.

If the friend is Jewish, I'd check if she is either superstitious or accepting gifts before the baby. It used to be something jews did not do but I am headed to my first baby shower this weekend (friend is jewish!)

Thanks ! I know that some jewish and italians don't accept. She is neither. I am going to give it to her and then like someone said she can give it to someone. When I went to her new house I saw she had a gift on the table so I guess she is accepting !
