Ultimately, we'd like a place where we can have all of our finances, including our IRAs and brokerage account. For the immediate future, we'll settle for someplace with decent checking / savings accounts.
We hate Chase, so that's out. I like Wachovia a lot for just regular personal banking, but there are hardly any branches on Long Island (and none within 10 mins of where we live). Also, I don't think we'd ever switch over our brokerage accounts / IRAs to Wachovia either.
We may stick with Wachovia for now if we can't make a decision on where to move everything... but I'd like some recommendations!
Anyone love their bank?! Tell me why!

Commerce Bank is a great bank. They're also open on Sundays which might be helpful if you need to go into the bank to speak with someone. They have fantastic hours too!!! HTH

Do you live in Suffolk? If you do you can join Teachers Federal Credit Union - they have good rates for money market accounts and car loans and are easy to deal with.

Nope, unfortunately we're in Lynbrook... However, there is a credit union in Nassau, too. I know I can join b/c my mom is a teacher and a member. I hadn't thought of that...

I second HSBC. We have an online savings account linked with a checking account for the wedding. All our wedding money is in there. They give 5.05% interest for the online savings. We have made alomost 1K in interest in 7 months. It's going to help so much!

North Fork has been purchased by Capital One so you will eventually see all of those changing.
I have worked for Chase, Bank Of America and Capital One and I have liked BoFA the best.
