NWR-BC-Let me get this straight...

If you are on BC and want to skip ur period a certain month you would take the first three weeks of the pill and then the last week, when you're suppose to take the palcebo(sugar pill) you would skip it and continue on a week of the BC pill? Is that how it works?

Question: does this make you irritable and give you the symtoms like you are having a period? ie. bloating

I know I felt bloated for a while and tired... all that fun stuff, but I'm one who typically gets those symptoms! I would suggest doing this a few months before the wedding to make sure you are not feeling any pms on the wedding day!

just remember that if you are on a triphasic (like othro tri cyclen ) where there are differnt hormonal levels for differnt weeks of the pill you wouldnt skip it like you described above.

but if you are on a monophasic (all the same hormonal levels) one then it works..

i'd acutally suggest talking to your doctor before you do any skipping though

So I should go 3mths without my period? I plan on getting the BC the beginning of April..so if I do it for the month of April should I stop it in May, and June and then do it again in July?

That is what I am doing it this month. I skipped my period for March so that any spotting would happen now instead of in the summer months. Who wants to deal with that when it is bathing suit season? Not me.

Ok, but then are you going to do the same for April, May and June?? Just keep ignoring the placebo pill?

I am doing it in order to not get my period the first day of my honeymoon so I only have to do it this one month. If you need to switch your period around more, talk to a professional.

I suggest you only do it one month, but its best to speak to the people at planned parenthood when you go. They do know what they are doing. They deal with questions like this all the time. If you want something for an extended period of time look into seasonale . . my friend is on it and loves it.

Personally, I wouldn't skip a month. I would put it off but not skip it entirely. I did that so I would have my period the week before the wedding. So when I was supposed to take the placebo I took the regular pill for the week and then took the placebo and just start the new month.

Ok, if you can call and talk to your doctor, that is the best way. However, I've done this before and here's the easiest way...

Your wedding is in July. You want to try to SKIP your period this month (so just start a new Pill pack on the day that you would have started taking the placebo pills, and continue taking that pack for 3 weeks.

After 3 weeks you then have the choice of skipping again or just getting your period. If you get your period by taking the placebos, and continue to do this until your wedding, just know that by skipping your period in March, you basically moved your period schedule up by one week.

So if you were supposed to get your period the week of your wedding, it will have moved it to the week before.

If you want to move it up two weeks, then you have to skip the placebo pills two months (but not necessarily back to back, just any two months between now and your wedding).

If you want to skip your period the month of your wedding, I would suggest skipping it this month to see how your body reacts (do you get bloated, do you spot in between, etc). If you're ok with how it goes, then you can do the same thing for the month of your wedding - just start the new pill pack instead of taking placebo pills.
