NWR birthday gift for niece/nephew

NWR birthday gift for niece/nephew

For those of you who have nieces or nephews.. what kind of gift do you give them for birthdays? My future niece is turning 5 and I'll probably take over gift giving duties. FH has always just sent cash and a card (they live far away). If you give money, how much? I'm not sure what is acceptable.

it depends on how close you are to them...i usually spend around 25 and 50

I always give $50 ... Another option is a savings bond for $50 which in turn is $100!

I spend between $25-$50. Sometimes more-but i only had 1 niece up until recently when my sis had her 2nd baby. So she got spoiled a lot by me!

I have 10 nieces and nephews...When they are all young I gave a gift... Two of my nieces and nephews are now 10, so I give them gift cards or cash...Still young age, so I think 25 dollars is good. I think the age has something to do with it...I know I gave nephew 25 gift card of itunes for his ipod and he was extremely happy.. I can't afford to give 50 a pop with 10 of them..as there are communions (cash), baptisms, Christmas, and lots of other gift occasions.. Keep that in mind..

I was thinking of changing it to a toy gift like some of you girls do. Wouldn't a 5 yr old love a toy so much more than 50 bucks? I think we'll do that instead and hopefully be able to spend less? FH wants to stop giving gifts after we have kids though. Since they're far away, we'd only give when we actually see them for the bday. I wonder how that's going to play out with their parents.. they're not going to like that one bit.

I'm extremely close with my nephew, hes lived with me since he was born so I usually spend ridiculous amounts on a birthday present but since they live far away i'd say $50 is perfect

i think it depends on the relationship. i only have one niece and i am extremely close with her and taking her places so i spend $100.
I would say if they are far away and you are not close with them you could def do $25 or so...but maybe a gift instead of cash
