A friend of mine just got the Droid. It's freaking HEAVY! It's a cool phone and all, but it's bulky and like I said, pretty heavy for a phone.

Also, it depends on whether or not you like/want a touch screen. I used to have a touch screen LG and got soooo sick of it. So I opted for the BB when my contract came up

fh has a blackberry and his ball doesn't work properly and it's only been a few months!

i thought the same thing!

i was considering getting it and a coworker got it so i was looking at it and was shocked how heavy it was

Do you have to pay a monthly fee for the Droid for things like media and internet? I know for a Blackberry you HAVE to pay $30 per month for media/internet/usage even if you don't even want those abilities.

to send pic messages & access email and stuff you need to do that $30/month data plan... but its not a 'necessary' function like it is for the blackberry. Like for my palm i didn't 'need' the data plan to just send texts & stuff - but then i couldnt get pix messages either (and i dont live close to my niece/nephews) so i ****** it up and paid for the data plan... But if i am getting the droid then its so i can use the web & stuff too!

I had the same problem!! I also thought it was kinda bulky, but I love my BB!!!!!

I personally like Motorola phones better...and I'm not just saying that because I work for Motorola. LOL. They are much more durable. I know they feel heavier...but they are built to last. I totally abuse my phone and it keeps on working. I think FH's blackberry is sort of flimsy.

I cant wait to get the Droid Unfortunately...I am on a 90 day waiting period because of the demand!!

My FH has the droid and I absolutely love it! I like the apps you can use and just speaking into the phone to find anything. It's really great, no need for gps because it has built-in GPS through google maps. I voted for it and I will get one once my contract is up. If you feel the droid is bulky, the Eris is just as good with just a touchscreen.

which one? unless its the tour take it to the store they can pop it out and put in a new one

You don't NEED to have the data plan with a BB. FH's brother doesn't have the data plan but he has a BB b/c he got it for free with an upgrafe

The Droid will probably have a lot of bugs. The fact that it weighs a ton is a major negative.

I have the BB Storm and hate it with a passion (even though I post 90% of my posts on LIW through my BB). It is heavy and the touch screen freezes on me a lot. When I got it the first month it came out, I almost returned it. I contacted Verizon and they said 'just wait till the new software updates are released which will fix a lot of those problems you are having..' The software updates did come out but it took at least 9 months for it to do so..

I am used to my Storm now but it was really crappy dealing with those issues because it was a Newly Released product.

For these reasons I am NOT getting a Droid, the Storm 2 or any new phone. I will wait until its been on the market a while and read the reviews at that point.

i have the droid and love it. i was considering a blackberry but i just love motorola phones. i had a motorola phone several years ago and it was the best phone i had. the last 2 phones i had were LG and Samsung and they gave me nothing but problems. I figured the droid could handle all the things that i do to my phone.
