NWR.. Boston B-day Weekend

So.. just a quick question.. tomorrow is my bday so FH and I decided to go away this weekend.. and for some reason we chose Boston.. he always wanted to go to Fenway (he's a Met fan).. and I wanted to go to Cheers (I'm so corny haha)

Does anyone have any suggestions of what we should do there? We are going to get there Friday around 6 or 7 and leave Monday around noon.

Thanks girls

oooh! Fun! I live there now.

Well, if you wanna hang out by Fenway, there's a strip of bars right there....Landsdowne Street.

Its fun - but be careful! If there's a red sox game on the night you go there you'll never get in!

Definitely check out Faneiul Hall/ Quincy Marketplace. Its where Cheers is. Good shopping!

Re: NWR.. Boston B-day Weekend

I was there about a year ago and I wish we had time to go to the Samuel Adams Brewery. Its supposed to be pretty good but I think it is closed on Sunday so if you want to go research that. We also went to a lot of bars. One of our favorites was the Liquor Store. It had a mechanical bull and it was all of our first time trying it and we had a blast! We were there during a blizzard so we took advantage of the hotel spa but we still enjoyed Fanuiel Hall and the Quincy Marketplace and did quite a bit of shopping. Boston is fairly small so you can just take the T around (their subway) to different parts of the city, but be careful, it stops running at like 11 or 12 at night and cabs are not around like they are in Manhattan. Have fun!

Happy Birthday and have a great time!
Boston is cool - what I love most about it is you can literally walk from one end of the city to another in an afternoon. Lots of shops and restaurants - eat in the North End - it's their Little Italy.. yum!
Love Newbury St - great shopping.

i went to school in boston! i miss it all the time. everyone suggested really good places. you have to check out quincy market/fanieul hall. there are lots of restaurants/bars/shops around there. and the north end (little italy) is not far from there as well.

if you are interested in history, you can follow the red line on the sidewalk from quincy market and it will take you to all the historical sites in the city. also, there is the museum of fine arts (near northeastern university) or the aquarium (which is downtown, on the blue line).

you should walk around boston commons and take a duck tour. so much fun! newbury street is nice to walk down, some fancier shops down there. and one restaurant i always loved was called fire and ice. there is one downtown or one near harvard square (another fun place to check out). hope this helps. i haven't thought about all those places in awhile! happy birthday and have fun!

Re: NWR.. Boston B-day Weekend

I am the biggest yankee fan ever so this is hard to admit- but I LOVE BOSTON!

We try and go there a couple of times a year- especially during July 4th- they have amazing fireworks and events.

But anyhow, here are the things that I recommend:

- I recommend either a water cruise around the harbor or a city tour- we did Spirit Cruises because they had a AAA discount and for the bus tour we did the trolly one- i think it was like $25 but you can get on and off all day in different touristy spots.

- Definately walk the freedom trail- there are some guided tours that do it or you can get a map & do it yourself- you see
http://www.thefreedomtrail.org/

-The harborwalk is a lot of fun

- Fun shopping & food in Faneilli Hall (spelling?)

For dinner- definately check out ****'s Last Resort- its a restaurant where the waiters are intentionally rude and its a really good time.

Have fun!

Personally I love walking down Newbury street. At the end of Newbury Street is the public gardens and the boston common which is beautiful on a nice day. If you're looking for good places to eat I would also head over to the North end --lots of great Italian restaurants and a fun place to walk around!
