I am going to get this done and they recommend using a sulfate free shampoo to maintain the smooth texture of the hair. Do any of you girls have any recommendations?

Words of advice...make sure you go to a reputable salon with good ventilation. I got super sick and ended up in the ER from the keratin. DO NOT use the brand Brazilian Blowout...it's the one with the most formaldehyde.
Any sulfate free shampoo will be fine for aftercare.

crashing...Pureology is a great sulfate free shampoo it's a little expensive but worth it, you don't need to use a lot. Also, lots of companies make sulfate free snow and they're cheap like Loreal, etc. depends on how chemical free you want it to be,

I get this done and I use Organix shampoo and conditioner. They're sulfate free and cheap. Most drug stores carry them (Coconut Milk and a couple other varieties are sulfate free so check the label). Don't let the salon talk you into buying their shampoo/conditioner.

I do also and long and insanely thick. The only time my hair is straight is when I get it done, I have no patience to sit for over an hour to do my hair lol.

Re: NWR Brazilian Keratin Treatment
im a hairdresser..with the keratin treatment if you do not use a sulfate and sodium chloride free shampoo it will wash out of your hair..it would be a total waste to use the wrong products! You would love it though..makes hair so smooth and cuts blow drying time

All of them have some form of formaldehyde...even the 'free' ones. That is the component that makes your hair straight. Some just contain more than others
