Yea....I have been waiting to speak to someone from the Italian consulate for the past 31 minutes. So since my '08 girls are always sooo helpful in all topics...maybe someone can answer my question. Does anyone know exactly what I need in order to bring my puppy with me to Italy. I know the secretary at the vet said they need a form but she said some countries are very strict.
TIA!!! Still waiting 33 minutes and counting!

Re: NWR: Bringing a pet overseas?
hmm i dont know about that one i am trying to google it
BUT a flight to italy is 8 hours - and last time with a few hours delay at take off AND landing - plus a little bit of extra travel time. . . i was on the plane for over 11 hours - would your puppy be able to handle that without going to the bathroom?
also i worry about altitude and the puppy's health -ears etc. i would definitely ask a vet what he/she thinks first
still trying to google the info though!

Yea it is...but i think your pet will need a certificate of health...my neighbor goes to Italy and its a pain in the a$$ for her to bring her dog.
ETA: You can tranquilize your pet Alot of people do this for their pets if traveling far =(

just a humane point as a dog lover/owner: if the dog is small and the airline allows you to carry on board into the cabin, take him....if the airline puts them with cargo---don't do it....the temperatures hit 40 degrees below zero, oxygen levels are shifty too! i can tell you horror stories but they get me real

It's my Yorkie. Her ticket would be $88 per flight. So would be $352. ( we have a connecting flight from Rome)
I swear I could have driven to nyc and back home sooner....I am waiting now 42 minutes!!!!
This is soooo aggravating!

Awwwwwwww do you have to bring her with you definitely? To be safe I would keep her home safe and sound. I have heard stories of pets being neglected in the storage section of the planes

The problem is....is that everyone in my immediate family is going. My mother & I leave the 12th of July. My bro & sil are leaving a week after me and my dad is leaving a week after them (26th). I get home on the 3rd. So there would be a week where no one can watch her. Fh has a rottie and a cat so that is out of the question...crazy enough...all of my friends are going away this summer or have other pets in their house.

okay so my dad said that you have to be careful BECAUSE they only allow two dogs on the flight so if there already two they will not let you on with him
and as for country rules - everything i looked at just says you need something from the vet - i bet if you call the vet they would be able to help you!
