NWR: Budget

Do you give yourself an allowance every week? How do you work on budgeting yourself for the week?

I am TERRIBLE with this....

I try to give myself x amount of money each week to spend. I've had some big expenses recently, and have another $300 I need to shell out for some tickets from July that I totally forgot about... not happy about it. I transfer $$ to FH's account each month to cover the monthly expenses (rent, cable, phones, electric, gas, etc). Food shopping FH and I usually alternate, I will typically pay the weekend after I get paid and let him pay the next weekend.

I take out cash for the week and then thats all I allow myself.. Once thats gone.. oh well LoL

I think I need to start doing this and leave my debit card a home.

To help budget for the wedding, I told myself that i will give my mom $500 a week as if i am paying a sitter to watch my son....it worked but then I started slacking off and she tells me 'would you do this to a real baby sitter or daycare? They would kick your son out...lol'

Before I get paid, I'm already budgeting.. I haven't been good with the budget lately but hopefully by the end of this month we will back on track!

The money that I make at my weekend job is my spending money for the week - though even that has been cut a little. I have my boss give me X amount out of my pay for the weekend and have him hold the rest (my own extra little way to save some money - especially with the holidays coming up!)

well what FH and i are doing is putting aside a set amount each paycheck and putting it in wedding account. then the rest pay monthly bills with!

I do leave X for myself for the week...
IF i ran out of money... I may take out another $5-10 JUST in case... But i usually try NOT to spend more than i need.

omg im the worst ever at this! I'm say ok i have this much and then...its gone. well, mostly bc FH cant budget his money and I give him an allowance lol...but still.

I think that we are going to be opening a joint account right after the engagement party next week and will put all the $$ from that in there. Then I will set it up so that I can put X amount of money in there every pay check as direct deposit (likely about $500 per paycheck, maybe more) so that he can start writing checks from that for Rent as well starting maybe December, maybe I'll put more like $750 each pay check in that. We will see!

i like the cash idea!

I neverrrrrrrrrrr have cash on me, I swipe my debit card like crazy and then bam its like ummm where did all my money go?

Maybe if I have the cash in front of me, I will be more conscious!

I just started putting aside 500 from each check into an ing account for the wedding.
FH sends me money via the beautiful chase iphone app and then I will put that into the ING.

my planner is my bible- i broke down my paychecks every week for the minimum i make then on my pay days i take care of the bills first and then the rest into the joint account and i get 50-75 per week left for gas and whatever once its gone oh well.

I think i'm gonna start leaving my Debit Card at home! i swipe it WAY to many times!! Maybe if i just take a $20 out for the week (ok maybe $40 and only aim to spend $20) then when that runs out i konw i've reached my limit!

I was putting $200 aside each paycheck to save for the wedding; but i started slacking off. UGH to think how much i could have saved if i had only stuck with it!
