NWR but I am so pizzed

I was supposed to fly out this morning to come home to LI for Christmas and everything is cancelled out here. We have 10 inches of snow, which is about 10 more inches than we normally get. The whole city is shut down and now I don't know when i will get back. Right now everything before christmas is either full or cancelled. I was supposed to finish all of my sisters bridal shower stuff while I was home too. Im so upset

Thanks girls! I am in Oregon, we usually get so much rain in the winter, but never snow like this!! I am flying standby for the next 3 days, but right now they cancelled the public transit I would take to the airport and the roads are sooo unsafe because they don't salt here! Plus we don't have a 4WD vehicle, so I am stuck

Ugh that's awful and sooo frustrating b/c you can't do anything about it. .. . one thing I would say, is just keep talking to the airlines and be super nice. . (and I'm not assuming you're not here) but I fly ALL the time for work and have been cancelled a lot, (took me 2 extra days to get home last week) and sometimes things will open up, or people change their minds and the ariline folks are so used to people battering them that if you 'kill them with kindness' sometimes they will go out of their way for you. . .just like a cimple 'gosh I can imagine how hard this is for you' and it may not work, but you never know. .
