I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. They don't know if it's because I am overweight, or my huge tonsils are obstructing my breething. I feel like it's a cycle, I can't lose weight cause I am always tired, but now I have to so I can get rid of this. Or there is the mask or surgery. All this happening 6 weeks before the wedding. I just want to feel better. Does anyone have this? What has been your experience? Thanks!

There is also a retainer you could wear that certain dentists are trained to do. Your health insurance might pay for it.
My DH has severe apnea and he sleeps with the machine most nights. He never really felt tired from the apnea. It was something that I noticed and made him get checked. But still, he sees a huge difference on nights he uses the machine. He gets more refreshing sleep with the machine.
I know someone that just had the surgery and everything went well.

A friend of mine had this... she too was overweight, tired, etc. etc. She got the mask that she puts on at night to help her breathe more deeply. She has lost a lot of weight, has more energy and realyl jsut has an overall new lease on life. she said she didnt' realize how tired she was all the time until she disocvered what it felt like to be well rested!!!! good luck to you... this diagnosis may be the best thing that ever happened. now you'll be able to fix it!
Thanks girls. I am hoping this is a good thing and that I can start to feel better. I am always cranky and tired, so maybe this will help me feel better and maybe I will feel well enough to excersize more and lose weight. It's just scary to me. Is this something I will have for the rest of my life?
I found out that I have about 2 months ago. I was prescribed the machine, but have a really hard time using it. I completely understand your pain-it is a catch 22!!
