NWR: Calling all teachers....

Please advise what is the best gift you ever got or what you absolutely wish from a student for the holidays. My sons 3rd grade teacher is absolutely great with him and I want to give her a gift that shows our gratitude.

Something that I know she would love or use.

Thanks Mary, I was thinking about this last night, and than I thought this is the best place to ask. My son loves his teacher and is crazy about the idea of shopping for her.

I think it's a great idea, because there are a lot of teachers on LIW; My Grandson is in 5th gr., so I think it would be nice to know what teachers really would like. Mary MOB

being a teacher, i always like to get stuff that i can use in my room: lakeshore is a great teachers store and so is LL WEENS.

im sure your sons teacher will appreciate anything!!!

Thanks what is a reasonable amount to give in a gift certificate to these store without making her feel uncomfortable??

Rebecca, would teachers prefer things for their classrooms, or for themselves? My Grandson had a teacher who had a tradition, if the parent wanted, to give a book, for her classroom, on the child's birthday. So, this made me think she preferred things for her classroom. Mary MOB

Starbucks/Dunkin Donuts gift cards are always appreciated!

I received 2 gift cards today, 1 Boomingdales and 1 Fortunoff. Everyone loves those in my school too...for me, I can use that to get something wedding related.

One big tip-I would stay away from giving cookies/candy or anything eatible. It's the most common gift, and they usually get thrown away because there's so much of it, and people are aways on some sort of a diet.
