We almost always stay at KOAs- they are usually centrally located, very clean and have activities at the campsites.

If your looking to go upstate check out Alpine Lake in Corinth NY.. Its right in between Saratoga Springs and Lake George. There is horseback riding and white water rafting near by too. In the campground there is a pool, lakes with boat rentals, fishing, bike/hiking trails. Tennis courts, basketball courts and so on. I havent been there in like 8 years but it was always tons of fun when we went. My family goes camping every summer and this was my favorite place. I think they even have trailer or cabin rentals. Have Fun!

EDIT: here i found the website with pricing and it looks like they added even more things to do since i was there last. I think i might have to go next year Alpine Lake Resort Website

kittatinny campgrounds, in barryville ny. it's on the pa / ny border, on the delaware, about 1/2 hour west of port jervis ny. not far at all, Fh and i go with friends every memorial day. you can go kayaking on the river, hiking, and they even have paintball. GREAT place, cheap, clean bathrooms and showers (just check for spiders before getting in!) - not coin operated!

check here for info:
Kittatinny Campground

They have several campgrounds - I like the barryville one because it's all wooded, but you can stay at their 'river beach' one if you want to be on the river .. i do think barryville has some sites on the water too. we always stay in barryville on the creek, so nice to hear all the time! FM me if you want info, i have been going there for 8 years.
