They have to have been on them for 24-48 hours already first

yes. lol. I got strep the first time from someone who had been on antibiotics for awhile. It slowly crept into my system and then it got really bad but I think in terms of being around someone who is on antibiotics then a few days after they shouldn't be contageous.
