NWR - Cats NEEDS a home, please help

Hey Guys, my aunt just told me about a cat in the building next to her that NEEDS a home. The tenants are being evicted and only sneak back to the place once a week or so to get their mail and feed the cat (Once a week!!!). There are no lights on, no AC and we think the cat may also be deaf!!

She is about 1 year old, all white with blue eyes. She was purchased from a pet store, so we know she is FIV and Feline leuekemia negative, but we're not sure if she is fixed. I'm in the process of trying to get a picture.

Please let me know if you are interested or know of anyone who is. I would take her but i'm currently on my surgery rotation and in the hospital on 24 hour call every other day so i wouldn't be able to introduce her to my other two babies.

We're located in the Bronx (throgs neck), but i'm willing to drive her anywhere (within reason).

Thank you in advance!!!!

Thats so sad! :(

Can you call the aspca and see if they can take the cat? They have a fb page and lots of animals get adopted from it.

A white cat would stand out and have a better chance of a new home.

I wish i could take the poor thing but FH is allergic and cierra would eat it. :(

This is so sad. I will ask around to see if I can find anyone. I wish I could take it but my dog wouldn't be too happy.

We already spoke to the ASPCA and there is a huge legal issue....and basically the ASPCA said that there is nothing that they can do (they totally gave my aunt the run around)....

Most no kill shelters wont take a drop off cat but i'll continue to make phone calls.

At the moment we are just trying to get the cat out of the house that it is in so we can feed her...my friend in Queens said he will foster it but can only keep her for a month or so.....i have no idea what we will do if she isn't adopted by that time.

Thank you everyone for your concern, i really appreciate asking around. You never know, your coworkers, family, friends....someone might be able to open their hearts and home to this baby. I will be getting a picture soon, so we can assoicate a face with the situation.

Have you tried Kitty Kind? I know they're not no-kill (though they do give the cats quite a long time before it gets to that point), but they set up at Petco and make sure the animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on shots before adopting them out. It may not be the best option, but it's a thought.

I'm asking around if anyone wants/knows someone who wants a kitty. I'll let you know if I have any positive news.

OMG - please do not do a kill shelter. this is heartbreaking as it is. there are enough of us on here that we have to get this cat adopted

Well yes, if we can find a home than that's far better, and I don't advocate kill shelters, but if it's the only option it's better than letting the cat suffer in it's current situation.

ETA: I was wrong, kitty kind is a NO KILL shelter!!!!!

have you guys tried contacting the CACC? center for animal care and control?

they even have police that can come and take care of abandoned/neglected animals.

CACC always brings to no kill shelters

i believe you cn get their info from 311
