NWR: Cell Phones

NWR: Cell Phones

FH and I are trying to get a cell phone plan for the two of us. Right now I have Verizon and he has Nextel. We have been looking at Sprint and Cingular.

Does anyone have any opinion on which plan is better/gets better service? We think we will be living in the Holtsville area after the wedding. Any input you have is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You can get more than one line with verizon. I've had a verizon for a few years now because it's given me the best service so far. Usually i switch if the service stinks.. but i get the best reception with it.. better than some of my friends with different companies..
then again i've heard pretty good things about tmobil and cingular too.

I agree. In the past I've had MCI Worldcom (no longer around), AT&T, sprint, Tmobile, Nextel and now Verizon. I usually switch after the contract is up if I dont like the service but i've been with Verizon 2 years next month and will be renewing my contract.

IF you go onto Consumer Reports, you can get lots of feedback of phone services.

Service and REception - Verizon seems to the best out of all of this. There customer service is excellent as well as there reception - very few dropped calls, etc. Tmobile seems to be the second best and Nextel being the worse.

You pay for Verizon though. There plans are expensive compared to other services and dont really have any COOL features i.e. Nextel has free incoming, Cingular has free rollover, Tmobile has that fav five thing.

You can go on to most provides website and check there signal area i.e. check the map and see if the area where you live carrys good service. Then you can work from there.

I'm actually switching to because I have Nexel now and hate it. I might go with Verizon or Tmobile.

Good Luck!!

I've had verizon for years. Never ever had a problem with reception, my bill, customer service etc. At one point most of my friends had nextel and I finally convinced them to switch to Verizon (mostly b/c i didnt want to pay any charges by texting/calling an outside servicer lol) And they were sooo happy that they listened to me. I always know exactly what they are charging me, and my contract is up in February and Im going to renew it for a 3rd time!

I have had Verizon for about 3 years now and I love it. They are great to work with and very helpful.

I used to have Sprint but I had a problem with them as someone tapped into my cell phone number and made my bill a crazy amount and they didn't want to help me out at all. It was a big mess, so that is when I switched to Verizon and was one of the best desicions ever made!

Fh & I used to have Nextel. Then FH got rid of it and got Verizon...so I ended up switching to Verizon too b/c I was going over in my minutes. With Verizon....you talk free to other Verizon customers. (I believe it's called 'in minutes') HTH

FH and I have Cingular (AT&T). We pay 90 for a family plan, we have I think 400 minutes (we just lowered it) and free nights and weekends obv. We also have like 4000 roll-over minutes.

We have 2 lines for cingular (at&t) .. we personally hate it, and will be going to verizon come march when our contract is up, we always have dropped calls or can't call out because the 'server is busy' and awful customer service. We had verizon beforehand and defiantly liked there service alot better, never had a complaint!

i say verizon is pretty good and cingular/at&t is the next in line....if you already have verizon you can just add a line to your plan you may have to sign a new contract though, FH and i have the family plan.....it runs us about 110 a month but we go over on text cuz we didn`t sign up for it.
