I'm finishing my master's in speech-language pathology, and right now I'm working with adults with mental retardation. One of my clients really loves to read, so we do some reading and question answering during our sessions. He's on about a 3rd grade reading level.... can anyone recommend books that we could use during therapy? They can't be too 'babyish' or too advanced.
TIA

Re: NWR -- Children's books
I work in publishing, and we have this book club for children. I don't work on that club so I'm not sure what's really hot right now, but if you check out this site, I'm sure you'll find plenty of books you can use.

If you look in some of the special ed catalogues - you can get more appropriate reading passages in lower level reading. One catalogue is called sundance I think. I use remedia a lot too!
