NWR: Chocolate lollipops - how do you make them?

Anyone know how to make them? Is it hard? How long does it usually take? Do you have to store them in the refrig when you are done? Where do I buy the supplies? THANKS!!

It's not difficult once you get the hang of it. They actually sell stuff at Michaels, but I get my stuff at the local candy shop. All you need to do it melt the chocolate pieces (which I do in the microwave in a glass measuring cup), fill your mold about 3/4 of the way, put in the sitck and fill the rest. try to get the top as flat as possible (the better you melt the chocolate the flatter you will get them). Then just stick them in the freezer for about 10 minutes or so until they are hard. They should pop out easily - I usually pop them out over wax paper. Just one thing to be careful of - DO NOT BURN THE CHOCOLATE!! (Believe me!) It will make it taste bad. Heat it up slowly (probably like 30-40 seconds at a time, maybe even less). Once they are done, you probably do not have to store in the refridgerator unless you think they might melt in your home. HTH! BY they way, the first few may come out messy, but you'll get the hang of it after a while!

fh and i did it this past weekend for fil's 25th anniversary party.. we used a pot w/ boiling water put a metal bowl on top of it and melted it that way.. we also bought the squeezy tubes to make different colors from AC Moore. it really is very very easy.

they must stay refrigerated.

i did these for my friends shower last year... and like the other girls said, they really were very easy! i made the flower shaped ones- pink with a white center i got all the stuff at michaels- i just microwaved the chocolate to melt it- but like somebody else said, only like 30 seconds at a time so it doesn't burn..... then refridgerate them to harden them.
They DON'T have to be refridgerated after you make them, unless your house is really warm- i made mine abotu 2 weeks before the shower, and stored them just in a tupper ware container on the kitchen counter, and they were fine! have fun!! you'll be impressed at yourself i think!

my family makes them for a 'side' living..

best way to do it..
use a double boiler.. fill water half way up on bottom pot, put top pot on top (obviously haha).. put choc in there.. just stir.. turn off heat when all melted.. then pour (or spoon) into molds.. put in freezer to make quickly harden (or fridge if you got time).. then pop out and fix edges with a butter knife..

its SOO much fun and easy to do...

the choc in ac moore is good, michaels i dont think the brand has the 'mercins' thats how you say it not how you spell it... choc.. you can get it by the pound at a choc. store and thats your best bet for the ideal tasting choc....

put in baggies or whatever you are wrappign them in and enjoy!

any more questions fm me!

Whatever you do don't boil the water, it will ruin the chocolate!!!!

Also at AC Moore they sell gloves, you can wear for when you are cutting the edges off the chocolate, so you won't get melt the chocolate in your hands when you handle them.

Go to the Chocolate Duck in Farmingdale, they have more molds than you would ever know what to do with, in addition to the best melting chocolate! They're working on their web site, but I think the posted some molds.
