My boss invited me to his sons christening at Westbury Manor, I need gift ideas. I don't really want to give money since my boss makes 5x more than me and $100 isn't going to really make or break his day. I suspect that his wife probably has or is getting from other people the typical 'tiffany' kind of gifts i.e. silver cups, spoons etc. Its a baby boy.
suggestions?

Re: NWR - Christening gift
What about a bond, it will be in the baby's name and they will have it when they grow up. Or you could go to Fortunoffs and get a really nice baby frame. Fortunoff's has a lot of silver stuff for baby's.

You can make him a scrapbook....anything handmade is unique and well appreciated I think. Course it sounds like you would have to supplement with some $$$ or some other item???!! Just a suggestion!

I think a bond is a great idea. It will gain value and by the time the baby is 18, he or she will have the money. I did that for both of my nephews for their Christenings.

I'd go with a savings bond, but you need his Social Security number to do so and your boss may freak out if you ask for that info!

i'm sorry, i should have added that my boss is a SVP at a brokerage firm so i wanted to stay away from savings bonds, since he's already opened a college savings plan and a second account for him.

Hmm...then why dont you make a donation to his college account? That is what I am doing for my nephew's first b-day gift (per my sister's request). She said he is young enough now where he won't know the difference between a toy or money so might as well make it money!
