NWR: Christening gift

Hi girls,
We have a christening in 2 weeks and was just wondering what to give as a gift. My fh was in the father's wedding party, and he will be in ours as well. Money is tight right now with the wedding, but I don't want to look cheap. I was thinking of a savings bond, but how do you do that? Also, I was going to give $ and maybe a cute frame, and put the invite in it for now, but someone told me only the godparents should give gifts, and everyone else should give $. Anyway, I'm new to NY so just wanted to see what most of you do.
Thanks,
Meghan

I also have a christening this weekend coming up Oct 25. Ours is for a greek child & they don't do communion's so it's a pretty big thing to do all at once......I think maybe for us $200- I bought alittle outfit too & we are not godparents.

In your case I would say $75-100 I would do what you are comfortable with. If you want to get a frame then go for it. So many traditions are broken these days....one days what they can afford especially in this economy.

I would say $100 is a solid gift for someone that isn't family. Go to a local bank and you can get a $200 savings bond for $100.

I would also give $, if you do want to get something small as well i think maybe jewelry would be nice (thats not too expensive)

I would give a small piece of jewelry, Something that may not be too expensive but still nice and delicate. If not money is always fine. Then the parents can get whatever they need. Also maybe a gift card to Children's Place or places where they sell baby clothes.
