NWR: coffee

NWR: coffee

i'm attempting to cut out coffee. funny thing is i barely drink any, just lately was having like half a cup of a small iced coffee, but i guess because of my stomach problems it hit me more.

Anyways i tried stopping drinking it altogether, but i was getting bad headaches from lack of caffeine, so now i'm trying to cut back gradually by only having it every other day.

I think coffee also contributes to weight gain depending what you put in it, and i'm trying to lose the 15lbs i gained, so coffee def. isnt helping then if thats true.

anyone have suggestions?

Sometimes I just love having a warm beverage - so when I was cutting back I started by cutting from 100% caffeinated to 1/2 caff. and 1/2 decaff. and then 1/4 and 3/4 (well you get the point). So I still had my coffee (with some caffeine), but slowly weened myself off it.

I still drink it maybe 1 time per week when I am stressed, but I'm glad I don't drink it like i used to (in college I was at 6 cups a day!)

Tea. It's very relaxing, lots of different flavors, and won't cause weight gain. There's caffeinated and decaf, so just read the label before you buy.

ETA: even if you think you hate tea, there are even some flavors out there for you. FH thought he hated tea, but now he always looks in the tea section of the supermarket to see if there is something new he wants to try.

Im a coffee fanatic.. I absolutely LOVE it.. Hot only though. Thats one thing I cant rid from my diet. I refuse to give that up!!!! I use Equal so, theres no calories or carbs in that.

While I studying for the bar exam I would have 4-5 cups a day As I cut back to 1-2 cups a day, I found that Excedrin worked really well on those caffeine related headaches.

coffee and tea have the same amount of calories before you add sugar and milk- 0. tea is not much less in caffeine than coffee is. actually caffeine is commonly found in many appetite suppressant pills...this is partially why coffee and cigarettes are the favorite foods of models (and european women LOL)

if you are concerned about your caffeine intake, also look at the iced teas, sodas, and chocolates you consume...and like SuzBride said, for you withdrawal issues true weaning yourself off gently.

if you are concerned about the weight gain, switch to equal and skim milk.

That is why I had to lay off the coffee. I really don't like the actual taste of unsweetened coffee, so I would load up with the sugar and half/half - so bad for me but tastes so good! If I could drink it black or with Equal/Splenda (not a fan), I would probably still drink it daily

yeah- my sister drinks it black, no sugar! ugh, I could never, but I have weaned myself down to one 'real' sugar, which I am happy with, and I use skim milk in hot coffee. if it's iced coffee, which I drink in the warmer months, I ask them to mix the skim and the whole milk- pure skim is just too watery for me!

but I go every single day to this awesome french bakery by my house- everyone that works there knows me, so I don't even have to ask...they just make my crazy picky half skim half whole 1 sugar concoction---and it's awesome!

I LOVE COFFEE WITH SUGAR AND VANILLA FLAAVOR. BUT I HAVE TO CUT BACK TOO I THINK THAT AND SODA ARE OUR WORST ENEMIES.

I put half and half in my coffee with all of the fat that I can handle. The only issue is that is hs an effect on my tummy and I aint talking weight gain.

I hate diet food. I don't care what anyone says, diet foods NEVER taste as good as their regular counterparts. Diet coke is the only 'diet' or low fat food I will consume happily. That and pretzels but pretzels are naturally low in fat unless they are butter flavored but in any case... BRING IT ON!

I am a decaf girl. Stomach issues prevent me from the real stuff. Also nutrasweet makes my stomach hurt too. Splenda is not much better.

So one cup in the am with half and half and one sugar.

I can't even drink soda anymore and believe it or not I lost some weight avoiding soda...
