so after trying to prevent them my entire life, i think i have a coldsore forming. its either that or a pimple...so anywho, (spoiler alert: TMI ahead)i was picking at it (bc i thought it was a pimple) and then i think i may have rubbed my eye
i read up on cold sores and it turns out that if it gets in your eye you go blind....im freaking.
does anyone (especially the doctors/nurses/cold sore pros) know what the chances are that it will spread to my eye and if it does what are the chances i will go blind??
i know im being super paranoid right now, but im so scared!

Re: NWR: coldsore help.
I never get coldsores. But, I do know that a pimple forming can almost feel like one from what I hear. I would go to the Doctor just to make sure you are okay. If it's a pimple, I am sure even though you rubbed your eye, it will be fine. But for safety reasons, you should just go to the Doctor. Is it burning?

Re: NWR: coldsore help.
Don't worry. This would be SO rare. I've had plenty of cold sores in my life (yuck!) and I've never had one spread anywhere on me...so I think the chances of it spreading into your eye is miniscule. Just leave it alone, though. If it is a cold sore, then picking at it will not help it to heal. Just drink plenty of water and keep it moisturized once it scabs up so that it doesn't crack. Hope that helps!

Re: NWR: coldsore help.
In order to prevent getting them in the first place take an L-Lysine vitamin everyday and when you do have one, take two everyday that you have a cold sore. This is will seriously speed up healing time. Then, get a lip balm that says Lysine on it. There is one called super lysine, and there are others you can get this from CVS, Vitamin Shoppe, etc. Make sure you just put it on the cold sore and not the rest of your lips to prevent spreading. Put this on the second you start to feel that you may be getting one, even if there is no sign of one coming because this prevents it from getting huge and even prevents it from coming out sometimes. Hope this helps!

Re: NWR: coldsore help.
Just a little tip - my husband and daughter were always getting cold sores - they started taking a muli-vitamin everyday and pretty much stopped getting them. A small one may crop up when they get a severe cold. They also used abreeva when they had them.
