NWR - condos?

Ladies, We're starting to search for a place to live... and know that houses are completely out of our reach right now... we're looking for a condo, (the cheaper the better!) but probably in the low 200k range.... Am I completely crazy to think that we'll be able to find a nice 1 BR (preferably 2 BR) condo in a nice neighborhood in Nassau (or Western Suffolk, Babylon, etc.) for this price ??? I am really scared! ugh I've been searching MLS and craigslist and the affordable things seem to be in Freeport or Hempstead only

Re: NWR - condos?

i live with my FH in a co-op in hempstead, but it's actually just south of the garden city border and so it looks like garden city (which is all tree lined and pretty). we were having a hard tome finding an affordable place to live, and so we had heard that there were some nice places in a small section of hempstead, so we took a chance and fell in love with the building and community here. the buildings are right acrss from sacred heart catholic high school and is very nice. granted, if you head south just a bit, you're in more gritty parts of hempstead. but if you head just north a bit, you're surrounded by mansions. it's a bizarre little gray zone.

anyway, there are 1 bedrooms for sale in my complex for 140k. it's a nice place to live, just as long as you can get past the hempstead zip code. lots of young professionals and older retirees. the complex is called 'cathedral gardens'. there's another called 'the mulford' right next door that's really nice too. FM me for any more info. good luck!
