I'm getting one for Christmas. You can do all types of meat in it, roast beef, stews I believe.

Re: NWR: Crock Pot Recipes / Slow Cooker
I made the BEST barbecue chicken in mine! I use Famous Dave's bbq sauce (about 3/4 of the bottle) and breasts, thighs and legs and cook for 4-6 hours. It comes out falling off the bone and Delicious!!!
ETA: I did this with Ribs too and they were AMAZING!

Re: NWR: Crock Pot Recipes / Slow Cooker
i've done pot roast in mine but would LOVE to do pulled pork (it's always good when i eat it from there) and soups!
a friend of mine just did apple cider and said it came out awesome
Canola oil or vegetable oil 2 small red onions, finely chopped 3-4 cloves garlic, peeled and minced 1 lemon, juiced 1 cup brown sugar, packed ½ cup cider vinegar 1 cup ketchup 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce, or to taste ½ teaspoon chili powder 2 racks of baby back ribs, cut into 3-4 rib pieces Directions
1. In a skillet placed on stovetop set to medium heat, heat oil. Add garlic and onions and sauté until softened and lightly browned. Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer gently for about 5 minutes. Remove half the sauce to use for serving. 2. Transfer stoneware to slow cooker heating base. Add ribs and sauce, cover, and cook on Low for 7-9 hours or on High for 3-5 hours. 3. To serve, cut ribs between bones and pass extra sauce.

I have the BEST slow cooker recipe book!!!! Fix it and Forget It by Dawn Ranck. It's awesome!! There are like 10 different recipes for every meal. My favorite is a meat loaf recipe in there...yea, meat loaf in a slow cooker? Who would have ever thought. But it comes out soooooooo good!

Re: NWR: Crock Pot Recipes / Slow Cooker
I love the crock pot! Over the summer I made the best ribs. I bought boneless ribs, with very little fat on them. I poured in a bottle of my favorite BBQ sauce- Jack Daniels original #7. I put a little water and just let it cook. I put it on high for hrs, but I was home to watch it and I stirred every so often. If i wasn't at home, I would have put it on low. After they were done, I took them out and right before I was ready to serve them I threw them on the grill in foil to heat them up. They were like pulled beef. So good. I've also made pot roast. Sliced up some onions, and carrots, seasoned, put the meat on top, put in a can of beef broth, turned it on and left it. You didn't need teeth for it. I also made sauce in it (marinara). But you have to watch that one, it reduces and I had a tough time getting the residue off the sides. I want to try chicken, but I seem to have problems making chicken any way other than cutlets, lol.

Re: NWR: Crock Pot Recipes / Slow Cooker
I use mine all the time! Just last night, FH made a beef stew. YUM!
As for cleaning it, get the Slow Cooker Liners in the bag section of the supermarket (by the ziplocks etc) They just fit right inside and then when you are done pull it out and throw away. No mess or caked on anything to clean out of the crock pot.....I can't imagine not using them!
Also, check in the seasoning section of the supermarket and there are all sorts of seasoning packets that you just throw in (they also have recipes on the back)

Re: NWR: Crock Pot Recipes / Slow Cooker
i always make pulled pork for parties- its become a special request and its so easy! put 5 lbs of pork (shoulder i think) in with a little under a bottle of apple cider vinegar. cook on high 4-5 hours, low about 7-8 hours. when its done, put the pork pieces on a plate and shred it using 2 forks. then take out some of the vinegar drippings (1-2 cups), mix with a cup of ketchup, some crushed red pepper and a couple of tbsp of orange juice. mix it together and enjoy! i serve it on buns with coleslaw.
