Re: NWR: cruise questions

i am leaving on my third cruise next saturday, any shore excursions we book we usually do through the cruise ship, unless its like shopping and stuff like that. You never know if something can happen, or you can run late, the cab can break down, there might not be one for a while etc. if you do the excursion on your own, the cruise doesnt know about it and its not gonna 'wait' for you. When we were in cozumel we heard about people who got left behind, for whatever reason, and had to fly to our next port to get back on the cruise ship!! better safe than sorry... good luck and have sooo much fun!!! fm me if you have any further questions!

i think it depends on where you are going. for our HM, i did a lot of the planning on-line through cruise critic. i knew which ports were easy to get tours off the boat, and in which ports there were no options once you got off the boat.

i think generally, as long as you leave yourself sufficient time to get back, and you're not going anyplace too dangerous, i think you'll be okay on your own.

KAREN- HOW DID YOU WORK THE TAXI BACK TO THE PORT. DID YOU JUST WAIT FOR ONE ROLL AROUND? PAY FOR ONE TO WAIT? OR TELL A TAXI TO COME BACKAND PICK YOU UP?

I would vote to do them through the ship. Most of the excursions are fun, and even though they're more expensive than if you did them on your own, at least you know they are reliable. There were days that we didn't want to do the excursions and we just went off and explored, but we left plenty of time to make it back to the ship. As for Cozumel, it's easy to get left behind there! The clubs are a lot of fun and it's easy to loose track of time. We cut it pretty close when we were there. lol!

Re: NWR: cruise questions

IM NOT REALLY WORRIED ABOUT COST OF THE EXCURSIONS- I JUST WOULD LIKE MROE TIME AT THE PLACES. THEY ONLY SPEND LIKE 2 HOURS AT THE BEACH. I WOULD LIKE TO BE THERE FROM 9 AM UNTIL 3PM AND MOST EXCURSIONS ARE 4 HOURS INCLUDING TRAVEL TIME.

We did a cruise for our honeymoon. You should'nt have any problems w/taxis @ the ports. You should get a daily itinerary of all the goings on as well as all the information that you would need about each port. All shore excursions that we did we booked through the ship. Have a great time!! A cruise is amazing.

you can ask the taxi that brought you to come back at a set time and pick you up. or you can roll the dice and hope one is there when you need one. for a lot of the caribbean islands, the cruise business is the best business they get. they know all of the ships comings and goings, and where most people go. i really don't think you'll have a hard time.
