NWR: crunch time - TEACHERS (09er)

ladies I need to start getting my resume out there..

For those of you who are teachers, how do you recommend I go about doing this?

I will be certified to teach grades 1-6... I've already checked on OLAS and have applied to everything I possibly could.

Any other pointers would be greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU!

Hi,
That's great! In addition, I suggest that you continue to check the Sunday New York Times. Does your university have a list serv. for educators?

Attend any career fairs that are published and visit the district/central offices of places that you are interested.

Best Wishes!!

agree with the above. most districts post in the NY times on Sundays. check it out on line as well and search for specific districts you might be interested in because they may have already posted already. my now district posted my job in February in the NY times. the ad ran ONCE and i was not hired until June. they get more than enough resumes after posting once, so be sure to go back in the archives on the times.

also, some districts do on-line resumes through their districts site... you could search districts on line and see if they have anything posted on their own site.

also, use ANYONE you know to pass on a resume for you. i got THREE interviews and one job offer because i knew someone who knew someone, etc. it ***** that it has to be this way, but use your contacts from student teaching, teachers or adminstrators oyu might know personally, etc. in fact, my district often asks the teachers do they know someone who's looking... they like to hire people they know can come highly recommended.

I wouldn't count on OLAS too much.... but it can't hurt . but i know so many people who never hear anything from that site.

also, check out the teachers board on LI Families. there are a lot of us on there.
GOOD LUCK!

Send out your resume/cover letter to EVERY district- there are more jobs than they post on OLAS
