NWR: Deer Park Area??

Hey ladies,

FH and I are looking for a new house and we found a brand new colonial for an amazing price for what you're getting. We're just trying to find out the area. I used to hangout in Deer Park when I was younger on 231. The house is actually 5 mins from 231 on a nice quiet one way street with all brand new or semi new houses. I love how it's close to DPA but not too close. Does anyone know how the area is? Is it safe, clean, good?? How are the schools....a few people told us they were not good. But the way we look at it is that we wont have to put a child in kindergarten for another 7-10 years so a lot could happen in that time. Also, we dont need an excellent school just something decent and mediocre...just nothing with gangs and drugs and stuff. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!!!

I grew up in Deer Park, and my parents still live there. The schools were OK when I went there. Obviously, much better than the rest of the country, but not the best schools on Long Island by a long shot. I don't know what they're like now, but the area doesn't seem to have changed all that much. Definitely safe, clean, and good. I wouldn't leave a door unlocked, but where would you do that on Long Island? I live in Babylon Village now, and I want to stay here, but that's because I love the village part, not because it's otherwise so superior to Deer Park. (Although Babylon Village schools are quite good, they always were; they have tiny classes, for one thing.)

Wow this is quiet funny because I grew up in Babylon Village and am now living in Deer Park off of Deer Park Ave.
I honestly feel that the schools in deer park are ok not great but not violent from what i have seen, my cousin was in the school not too long ago. It's a decent area and I really don't prefer one over the other.. though I must say that some of the Babylon houses are like wow but also a looot more money but I would def move to the area you are talking about .. research the schools a little more though .. not so sure about them .. GOOD LUCK
