NWR: Deer Park Area???

Hey ladies,

FH and I are looking for a new house and we found a brand new colonial for an amazing price for what you're getting. We're just trying to find out the area. I used to hangout in Deer Park when I was younger on 231. The house is actually 5 mins from 231 on a nice quiet one way street with all brand new or semi new houses. I love how it's close to DPA but not too close. Does anyone know how the area is? Is it safe, clean, good?? How are the schools....a few people told us they were not good. But the way we look at it is that we wont have to put a child in kindergarten for another 7-10 years so a lot could happen in that time. Also, we dont need an excellent school just something decent and mediocre...just nothing with gangs and drugs and stuff. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!!!

Hi! most of deer park is pretty good. of course, like any area, there are some bad parts, but for the most part it's nice. The schools are not the greatest on the island, but are certainly better than some. I'd say that they were a little above average. Good luck!

Hey I know the area pretty well... I've lived in Bayshore, West Islip and now Dix Hills. I used to work at the McD's on 231 in North Babylon so I knew a lot of the kids who went to both Deer Park and North Babylon. Its a decent area, Deer Park isn't too bad but the problem I saw was North Babylon was a little worse with problems so the closer you are to there tends to be more trouble. Overall I'd say its pretty good though.
