NWR: Deer Park, Ronkonkoma, Coram....

...is it unreasonable to live in any of these areas and work in Manhattan?

What about the schools there? Does anyone have information?

Why would it be unreasonable?
I live in the BX and travel to Ronkonkoma for work, although I may NOT recommend that you drive at all to NYC

I drive but FYI, the train ride from Ronkokoma to Penn STation is about 1 1/2 hours. My cousin does it every day.
Deer Park may be a little closer in. Many ppl do this, and you can park your car at the station.

Can't help you w/schools.

There is an express train from Ronkonkoma to Penn that takes just under an hour. Lots of people from the area drive there to take that train - It's pretty convenient.
Edited to say Coram is a bit too far east for a reasonable commute to NYC.
