Re: NWR- Demo lesson for 3rd grade!
I work with 3rd graders. I'm surprised they didn't specify what they wanted you to do....math, s.s., english??? I would go with ELA. You can always do an activity that has a short read, class talk, and written response. You use a lot of various strategies which gives a greater chance of getting all the kids to participate. Good luck!!!

Hi I teach fourth grade. I did a demo last year and they did the same thing to me just told me a grade level. I would say to do an ELA lesson, it is definetly the easiest way to go. Possibly do a read aloud and follow up with an activity on sequencing or compare and contrast. Any skill that they should already know how todo. That is what I told a person who is doing a demoin my class this year.

I absolutly agree! You would be safe with an ELA lesson.

Re: NWR- Demo lesson for 3rd grade!
I was thinking of reading the book Hairy, Scary, Ordinary and breaking them into groups and giving them an object (such as different food items- lemon, dry macarroni, bread, etc.) which they will have to use adjectives and their five senses to describe and then for closure having them give the adjectives to the class and the class trying to quess what they might be describing (inferencing)
What do you think?

i think that sounds good...interactive and students are actively involved in the thought process. plus it sounds fun!
