I've been in Depo for a few years (and love it, no periods, no cramps!). I was wondering if any of you have been on it, how is it when you stop getting the shots? How long until you get normal cycles again?
I am planning on quitting the Depo next year after the wedding and was just wondering what I should expect. TIA!

Re: NWR -- Depo Provera
I was on it for about 5 years before I ended up with CONSTANT spotting
I was told by alot of women AFTER I got on depo that this could happen though.
I switched to Ortho Evra (the patch) and went back to regular cycles (no spotting) within the month.
I'm told that I can stop using the patch and get pregnant right away. I believe it too since I forgot to switch on week and got my cycle a few days early.

Re: NWR -- Depo Provera
I never did the Depo shot, just heard too many trauma stories. I have been on Ortho Try Cyclen Lo for about a year, prior to that I was on regular Ortho Try Cyclen. My sis was on it as well, took her 1 year to get pregnant after being on the pill for 5 years.

i was depo for about a year and a half. i got my period every 2-3 mos, and spotted a lot towards the end. after i got off i was a lot less moody, i even think the depo made me a little depressed, so i'm glad i stopped. i now use a low-estrogen pill, lessina, and i'm very happy with them. my sysle came back within a month of quitting depo.

i was on the pill 1st, but had problems with it so i stopped.
i heard that prolonged depo use, can cause bone loss down the rd

mee too. switched to patch and everything got back to normal within the month (and no more constant spotting). I was on depo for about 5 years before the spotting though.

Re: NWR -- Depo Provera
I was on Depo for 5 years....no probs at all--no period, no cramping, no weight gain, no moodiness....but then I figured since FH and I were going to be together forever---kids would be coming in the next couple of years and I wanted to get things 'flowing' normally again for a while. Went off it and it took me three different pills to finally regulate a 'normal' schedule. I'm now on Lo-Estrin and it works well.....but I noticed my 'sex drive' is a bit lower and I seem to get depressed and b$$tchy right before AF comes in to visit. So, I'm tempted to go back to the Depo.....but I think we'll start TTC shortly after the wedding---and I'm not sure I want to mess with mother nature much more.
I would definitely go onto a pill after stopping Depo, just to make sure you regulate things OK--otherwise you may become extremely irregular and AF may last weeks....yuck!!! Good luck--feel free to FM any other questions.

Thanks so much for that info! I've also had no side effects whatsoever and I think it's a blessing to have NO period, NO cramps!
