NWR: Dessert Opinion

NWR: Dessert Opinion

So I am the furthest thing from Betty Crocker, but I really want to make a dessert for Thanksgiving. I have my heart set on a trifle. I've found a ton of recipes...some way too cocplicated for my first attempt at baking. The below looks easy...but do you think it sounds good??? Honest opinions please. I dont want to make something no one will eat

Ingredients
2 (14-ounce) packages gingerbread mix
1 (5.1-ounce) box cook-and-serve vanilla pudding mix
1 (30-ounce) can pumpkin pie filling
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 teaspoon ground cardamom or cinnamon
1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping
1/2 cup gingersnaps, optional

Directions
Bake the gingerbread according to the package directions; cool completely. Meanwhile, prepare the pudding and set aside to cool. Stir the pumpkin pie filling, sugar, and cardamom into the pudding. Crumble 1 batch of gingerbread into the bottom of a large, pretty bowl. Pour 1/2 of the pudding mixture over the gingerbread, then add a layer of whipped topping. Repeat with the remaining gingerbread, pudding, and whipped topping. Sprinkle of the top with crushed gingersnaps, if desired. Refrigerate overnight. Trifle can be layered in a punch bowl

it seems like it is really simple to put together. Is there another kind of flavor to do it in maybe? I personally dont think i would eat something like that, I would try it, but i am not so sure if i would really enjoy the flavors...Thats just me though...
If the people that are going to be eating it enjoy this kind of flavor I say go for it!! It looks super simple and pretty easy/quick to set up.

I'm not sure I would eat it either! LOL. I need to find something easy and good...and I'm not having much luck. I'm sure I'll end up buying a dessert. LOL

they sell instant pudding pie and things like that...A friend of mine makes those all the time...Why not just buy some cookie dough and pass them off as homemade? no one will be any wiser lol!!!

im all about the sugar cookies. i buy frosting and decorations and they always come out great :) for FH's bday i baked like 17 cookies, frosted them, put sprinkles and then spelled out HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! with each letter per cookie. :)

you dont have to go martha stewart. people will still appreciate the effort.

It looks good to me!! I would definitely eat that but that's cuz I like all the ingredients. Some people might not like gingerbread that much

im not crazy about ginger bread so i woul dtry it but probably wouldnt eat it. did you check out kraftfoods.com....they have the easiest desserts!

if you want something quick that has pudding...have you tried making mud (or dirt) or sand?

mud (or dirt) is i small container of cool whip mixed with 2 small boxes of INSTANT chocolate pudding and then you just put it in a pan and crush oreos and put them on top.

sand is the same thing but use vanilla pudding instead and crush golden oreos...this one tatses almost like cake batter

they are so good and take like 10 minutes to make

if you want something quick and simple, you should buy a can of pumpkin pie mix! all you need is the can of the pumpkin pie mix (it already has the spices in it), a ready made graham cracker crust, eggs, and a can of evaporated milk.... its yummy!! good luck!
