Re: NWR - Disney
There are a bunch of nice hotels right on international drive...cant think of any names though sorry. The drive from the hotels in orlando on international, to disney is maybe 10 minutes, 15 tops.

FH and i stay at a place called Suites at Old Town. we get a whole suite with a full kitchen for like $80 bucks a night. The hotel is on route 192 and is next to Route 4 which is what you take to get to the parks. Old town is a little amusement park with rides and little shops and a restaurant or two. it's a great little place to hang out at after being at the park all day. across from the hotel are a bunch of restaurants and gift shops. route 192 is full of them-beakfast buffets, dinner buffets and it's all low prices. Hope this helps. Have fun!!!

90% of the hotels on the strip out side of Disney are nice and reasonably priced. I know we had stayed at these little cottages like 10 mins from the park I forgot the name of them. But there are the major hotel chains as well there. Try going to Hotels.com.

Is there a reason you don't want to stay on property? We just went this past summer and it was really reasonable to stay on property plus some hotels have car rentals so you can leave Disney property if you want.

we were looking at the prices of the hotels on property and they just seemed to be really expensive for when we were looking

If you're really concerned about price and you're only going to go to Disney (not Universal or Sea World), staying at one of the All Star resorts on Disney property is probably your best bet. Believe it or not, it actually works out cheaper because you will then be able to get the meal plan which saves a ton of money! $39.99 per day per person for food - can't beat it - especially at Disney.
I can tell you that I stayed at the Sheraton Safari right outside of Disney property for a family visit once and it was actually more $$$ than the cheapest Disney hotel.

DH and I went down to disney a few years ago and we stayed in the Best Western on Hotel Plaza Blvd. It was very clean and the staff was great! Just like on Disney property! There is a bunch of hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd. They are a subsiderary of Disney hotels so they still offer the shipping to the room from the park and they are a fraction of the price. It's right across the street from Downtown Disney. If you google Hotel Plaze Blvd., it should come up with the hotels around there. HTH!
ETA: Its called the Downtown Disney Resort Area.
