To save money i recently began coloring my hair and up until now it's worked out rather well....until tonight. I colored my hair what i thought was a shade lighter and it didnt come out close to what i expected. Its a bit spotty too (i didnt like this brand). My first instinct is to color it again right after work tomorrow. Can i color it (a shade darker) tomorrow or do i have to wait?? I dont want my hair to fall out but i dont know how long i can hide the spottiness!! PLEASE HELP!! Im in hair hell

Re: NWR: DIY Hair coloring HELP PLEASE!!!!!
ill be honest, i did this YEARS ago, well what i did was i dyed my hair a color and really didn't like the color at all. I wanted a bit more red but was too brown. SO i dyed my hair immediately after within a day or 2 and it damaged my hair. It just was so dry, so frizzy, so many split ends. My hair was a brillo pad hahaha...I would wait at least 2 weeks. My hair was like that for a bit after

TY so much for the advice....im about to die though lol... 2 weeks!! The color is just so uneven. Its darker in areas and has patches of light. Im not sure why it happend. I coated it pretty evenly. Did you do a deep conditioning treatment afterwards? I dont want to damage my hair at all...i should have just stuck with what i liked.

well after trying alot of things i just finally chopped my hair off...my situation was probably worse bc i had dyed my hair quite a bit before and had just gone from blonde back to brown so my hair was just a bit over processed at the time so might not be as bad for you. It is alot on your hair when you do it once so twice one after another can be alot but depends everyone reacts differently to things.
It can happen sometimes bc your hair has natural highlights in itself, so that might be the case but not sure.
Would you consider getting it done at the salon this one time and then going back to doing it yourself. OR how about doing it again but using something not as strong on your hair, maybe semi-permanent or a more natural hair dye, that might work. Again what happened to me wont happen to everyone

TY so much for your advice!! I think the problem was that i switched brands. Im wondering if i went back to my original brand (just one shade off from this new color...new color is medium ash brown and the regular one is medium brown). I would definitely get it done at my salon. I actually just emailed my colorist. Hopefully she gets back to me sometime tomorrow. I would definitely have to lay off of blow drying at flat ironing if i did color it again. From now on i think its back to the salon for me. The color i have been dying it is so similar to my natural so it worked out. Now im having 2nd thoughts. lol

Definately give it a little time before you do anything (professional or not). The spottiness may fad a little after a few shampoos.
I only do highlights but I love the Sexy Hair Soy Milk line. I have fine hair so it dries out easily. I find this keeps it moisturized without weighing it down. HTH
