NWR--Does anyone else......

Driving that long is not a bad commute compared to taking the subway to NYC!

I live in Long Island and work in NYC, my commute is always 2 hours! I take the subway... so it always feels like it takes forever....

Driving to 179 and finding a parking there is hell....

so ya i feel your pain!!

I feel better that I'm not the only insane one doing this everyday.

I just left my job in NYC, live in Coram, my commute was 2hrs 15 minutes if there were no problems and I was on an express train. It just got undoable for me. I felt like I had no life during the week, and the weekends were spent preparing for the week - food shopping, cleaners, cleaning the house, additional errands. Not worth it. I'm looking for something in Suffolk now.

I don't drive in, but when I lived in Suffolk, I'd leave my house before 7 to get in by 9 on the god awful LIRR. I kind of feel your pain.

It's not unusual to have a long commute - especially if you commute from LI to NYC. My commute from Bellmore to the upper west side of Manhattan used to be 1.5 hrs door to door. Now that I'm in Manhattan and work near Penn it takes me 15 minutes! Love it, but hate living in NYC. So it's a trade off. I used to work with a woman who commuted from the Poconos and it took her 2 hours. She came by bus. Either way, you do what you gotta do to make the money! :) I would hate to be sitting in traffic though and would much rather sit on a train and read or listen to music or sleep!
