NWR does anyone else hate...

being called 'mam'.... I mean I am only 26 I hate it.... I work as a waitress/bartender part time so maybe thats why I hate it so much. Someone just called my work and addressed me as 'mam' like 5 times! I mean I don't think I look or sound like someone old enough to be 'mam'... I still want to be 'miss'! I know I am crazy and maybe I am just trying to cling to my youth.

I agree...i feel like it is patronizing for some reason too...like why not just call me by my name or last name or miss???

Yeah - I hate that too. In fact I hate it so much I make a point not to call anyone else that. I even refer to 80 yr old women as 'miss'

haha i call everyonee ma'am..and honestly i dont really mind if someone calls me that..

but i was born in the south (although i grew up here)..and down there its just a given that you say ma'am..so i guess im kinda used to it

I work in a store and people my age call me 'mam' it just gets under my skin. Also older people calling me darling or sweaty goes in the same category.
