My FH and I have a 9 month old male puggle and he is just OUT OF CONTROL ! We try everything to train him...we even watch the dog whisperer constantly and try all of the things Cesar suggests. Our dog nips, scratches the walls, jumps on the table, tries to eat everything in sight etc..I know he is only a puppy but it is really stressing us out and I can see that it causes many arguments bw FH and I. We can't afford anything really expensive but if any of you can offer some advice, suggestions, or traininer recommendations with prices I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance...I added a pic of our monster 'george' we love him to pieces even though he is soo much work !
ETA: Pics in my album it wouldn't let me add one to this.

Re: NWR - Dog trainer needed !!!!!
Bad news... I think that's just the way puggles are. My sister has a one year old puggle named Meadow and she's insane. She just recently bit through a wall in my sister's brand new house and ripped apart a supposedly indestructable dog bed (her fourth bed in a year I think).

You need to take him to obedience classes. The ones for groups aren't as expensive as ind. training, and it gives the puppy a chance to socialize with other dogs. If you are located in Suffolk, FM me and I can give you names and numbers. Good luck!

My other suggestion would be to exercise him A LOT. Wear him out. He obviously has a lot of energy that needs to be directed.

We did a group class here, in Bay Shore: http://www.doggieuk9.com/
They are a very knowledgable, well run facility! I also thought they were reasonably priced. For us, it was more about putting the time in. Let us know how it goes!

Re: NWR - Dog trainer needed !!!!!
I brought my boxer to Petco in West Babylon. It's $100 for six weeks (1 night a week) and we did basic training. My dog was psycho and jumped all over people and never listened to me. She is still crazy, but I am able to reign her in now by simple commands that she learned there. The trainer's name was Joann. She was great! I think she also does the classes in the Bay Shore Petco too. My dog LOVED going to class. We are thinking about doing the advanced class when she gets a little older. FM me if you want to know more!

Hi, He may grow out of it. If you are looking for a class that is not to much try petco. Im a groomer for them. I don't know how much the classes are but I think that its not to bad. Good luck with the puggle.

He's so cute! But I second that's how puggles are. They need A LOT of exercise to make them tired and calm them down. Can you leave him at doggie day care a couple of times during the week? I do that for my pug puppu and he comes home exhausted - and he probably has only 1/2 the energy George has! And Pet Smart in Huntington has obediance classes.

My puggle Maggie was the same way, she ate through all the moldings ripped all the squeakers and stuffing out of all her toys.
We walked her 'a lot' and she is almost 2 now and much calmer, they need a lot of exercise. That will tire him out and he wont be too bad. Just reinforce everything!
aww i want a puggle, i think you can go to like petco they have classes they say you have to train them from a puppy but i dont think it is to late

Re: NWR - Dog trainer needed !!!!!
Thank you for all of your feedback !!! I will def be looking into some of the trainers you suggested. ShaRob...Maggie is TOO cute...and your story made me feel a lil better, 2 yrs is a long time though
We walk him at least 3 times a day...the thing is we live in an apartment with not alot of space so I chase him around to burn some energy since we have no yard. I am more concerned with his biting...he always thinks its a game !!!

Re: NWR - Dog trainer needed !!!!!
Definately exercise him! That's the best advice
The other thing that is very important - Keep him in a crate when you are not home! Make sure that you never let him out of your sight. If he does something inappropriate you can always give him a time-out in his crate. At this point, he should sleep in there are night, be in there while you are not home. I know it sounds cruel - but it works wonders. So besides giving him lots of exercising - he should be crated.
Good Luck!
BTW - George is ADORABLE!
Just b.c he's cute - don't let him get away with bad behavior - thats something a trainer will tell you is a common error in discipline. (I'm too much of a softie - but my puppy knows when I mean business)

Is she 2 in this picture? She looks so tiny! My sister's puggle is 1 and she's HUGE!

Don't forget a puggle is a mixed breed. Depending on which breed is dominant - their sizes will be different. The more dominant breed will determine the size. George must get his size from a pug whereas your sister's dog must get his size from a beagle.
