Hi everyone. I have a 1 year old shitzu/maltese mix doggie names Benson. Benson is usually very playful and overly energetic. He's been lethargic the past few days. We had house guests for a week that left 5 days ago, and a puppy friend over on Sunday. I'm hoping he's either recuperating from all the excitement of a week ago or adjusting to the change in temp. Am I being hopeful? Could something be wrong and I should take him to the vet? He's still barking at passing cars and has somewhat of an appetite? Any thoughts? Thanks!

Re: nwr . . . doggie question
I really think if your doggie is not 'himself' you should have him checked out; it may be nothing, it may be something, but better to be sure! THe change in weather (i.e. getting cooler) usually creates the opposite (that is, MORE energy in cooler temps) so for that reason I'd get hm checked out. Also you dont say how young the puppy friend was, but he may have had a bug if he wasn't vaccinated yet! Probably nothing to really worry about, but you'll feel better getting a clean bill of health!!!

Thank you! I didn't know that about the cooler weather. His puppy friend is3 and fully vaccinated. I'll call the vet in the morning. I love my little guy too much to take any chances!

Re: nwr . . . doggie question
Oh GOOD!!! BTW we have 2 and one was acting 'weird' back in July, we thought she might have eaten something odd, took her for an x-ray, and it was GAS. So we paid $300+ for a really nice picture of gas bubbles. Worth every penny to know she's well though...
Your little furbaby is SO CUTE GET WELL SOON BENSON!!!

What a cutie pie he is!!
I would take him just in case! I have 2 cocker spaniels, and I would do the same thing....even though I'd be hesitant at first, think of how relieved you'll be once you go and find out.

Definitely bring him to the vet. I have 2 malteses 1 is 6 and the other is 4 months old. Two weks ago the older one was sneezing and had a runny nose and coughing for a week. My Fh said he is fine but he is my baby and I did not want to take any chances so I took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with allergies. Paid $45 for the visit but it gave me piece of mind....
