NWR: don't know what to do....dogbaby related...

So our rescue baby Chewie is approx. 11 years old. We've had him for 2 years and though he had the occasional accident he's been mostly fine. But lately he has been peeing in the apartment a TON and it seems like he is doing it to express anger. Like he will do it only an hour or so after being taken out. We don't know what to do! He is so old we aren't sure how to change this behavior! We upped the number of times/day we take him out, but he is still doing it! Help?!? Anyone gone through this before???

(including a pic of Chew just cuz)

Oh chew, u r the most precious! I would take him to the vet, maybe its a simple infection and not behavioral?? Not to make an infection sound 'simple' but I mean, maybe its something that could be cured by antibiotics if indeed an infection. Then problem solved. Or I woujld take him to make sure no other problems going on..

not that this is an awesome solution but can he wear doggie diapers? because they are so freaking cute.

do you think he might have a little doggie depression?

i dunno, is peeing everywhere a sign of doggy depression? (it sounds like it should be funny but i really dont even know!)

My dog would start doing this sometimes if he was sick, or upset about something. For instance we took him to the Rocky Point St. Patty's day parade last year, he hated the loud noises and peed in the house for a week after that. Do you have a crate? We just started putting him back in there until the peeing in the house stopped again.

i agree about the crate. we used to leave our dog in the hallway with a baby gate up and we would come home to pee or poop almost every day in our hallway. good thing we had tile in there lol. but we started putting her in a crate and she stopped peeing/pooping. we still don't know why she was doing it in the first place, but at least she's not doing it anymore.

ahh yes, this too! my dog had a UTI at one point too cause she was peeing everywhere, but it was more like just a sprinkle here and there - that's how we knew something was wrong if she couldn't hold in little tinkles.

get him a weewee pad and theres this spray that smells like poop/pee lol it makes them want to cover the scent with their own, that should help the little baby out!

He's ADORABLE (thanks for the pic - and rescue dogs are awesome!)

ITA with the posters about taking him to the vet. If he isn't doing anything else like destroying pillows or shoes and he is fixed, then it's not behavioral. With a little face like that I couldn't picture him being the angry type anyway!

My parents are having the same problem with their terrier who's about 11 years old. A friend that works at a pet shelter said limit the amount of water intake after dinner and leave a very small amount of water in the bowl overnight.

Hmmm I would take him to the vet. Sometimes when animals are sick they do that.
