I have a question. What part of East Meadow is more desirable? I am looking at two houses and one is north of the Turnpike and one is south of the Turnpike.
It seems that there are nice houses north of the turnpike but it is close to the jail.
Please fill me in!
~Thanks

Re: NWR: East Meadow
I used to live close to the jail, I wouldnt worry about that. It was actually funny living close to the jail cause they do monthly (or maybe it was weekly, I dont remember) drills with the alarms for when a prisoner would escape and it would scare the crap out of my grandma cause every time she would think there actually was a prisoner escaping.
My x-bf lived in East Meadow, south of the tpke and he lived in a really nice neighborhood! GOOD LUCK!

the most desireable area of east meadow is Barnum Woods, thats why its the priciest. What are the 'area names' of the 2 houses you're looking at?

My parents house is close to the jail & that fact never mattered to me. I never even noticed or had any problems with it there. I love that part of East Meadow. Best of luck to you & FH

I have no idea what the area names are. One is on Clearmeadow and the other is off of Coolidge. Does that help?

I knew some people who lived by there, it's a nice area even being near the jail.

My grandparents live off of Coolidge on Albermale Ave. The entire area over there is really nice. I go there quite often and I know for a fact it is very safe. Everyone keeps their lanscaping nice and neat and very friendly people live in that area.

I have lived in east meadow my whole life. they both have good things and bad things about them. I live around the cornor from Clearmeadow. I love this neighborhood. Living close to the jail is a plus. They never stay nere here. Plus you get more protection because the sheriffs drive around at night. So its extra protection. This area is close to a good elementry school right around the block. But myself I am buying a house on the south side because its my mothers in laws and we are getting it for a good price.

east meadow is nice but the school is right across the street from the jail, I dont know if that matters to you. if you are going on the south side of the turnpike im assuming you will pay more....good luck!

I lived in E meadow and I dont like anything near hempstead turnpike. Its just crazy and conjested. I moved away from east meadow because of a few reasons but If I had to choose I would say South.

Re: NWR: East Meadow
I am very familiar with EM. As for the jail, I really wouldnt worry at all. I have barely noticed it other than seeing extra police cars around(which is a good thing). Plus i think it is a minimum security prison, i dont think there are murderers there or anything. Both north and south have good areas, the whole town is generally a nice, safe place to live and it is near all stores you'll ever need. All major highways are easily accessible.
