NWR- EBONY brides... i have a question.... HELPPPPPPP
ok. so this is not wedding related, but i had a question that i really need your help with... and i REALLY want you to be honest about it.
so my cousin is african american (well, a bunch of them are, but this is for one in particular)
So anyway, i came across this gift for her that i think is awesome... its something i'm even most likely going to buy for myself, and i thought it was a great gift, but then all of a sudden, i got all worried that it may be taken the wrong way (we're prety close, but i still worry about these things).
Anyway, the gift i was thinking of is stories from African- Americans (like a compilation type of book)... and i read through it and some of them were so amazing... AND there are many contributions to this book from Maya Angelou (who is my favorite author of all times, truly inspriring, and i woman i totally idolize). SO i thought it would be an awesome gift,,, BUT now i feel like i have this stigma going on in my head like it could be taken the wrong way (almost like ... ummmm is she just getting this for me b/c im Black?!) I know thats not her personality, and i know she knows that I'M sooooo not like that, but still, i worry.
the thing is- she is seriously the epitome of a strong black woman (great mother to 2 beautiful little girls, supportive wife, and Successful career), and i feel like she would really love this book.
OK... im done rambling about the story,,, but i need Help!!! Would you welcome a gift like this, or think differently of it? I want to know honest answers!
TIA!!
