NWR: Elliptical Machine

Good morning ladies

Do any of you lovely ladies own an elliptical machine? I am thinking of purchasing one...to use now but then hoping to be able to MOVE IT WITH ME to our apartment when we get it.....so im looking for one that's not MONSTER SIZE... and a decent price.. but also one that is nice, easy to use, etc.

Anyone have one that can make a rec. ? and tell me about how much you paid for it....

Do you ladies feel that elliptical machine will work me out better than my treadmill for cardio?

I have a cse 3.5 horizon club series. It's a space saver and it's cheaper than a big elliptical. I'm not always crazy about it's range of motion but it still does it's job. I wish i had enough room for a regular size elliptical. Sometimes i think i get a better workout from the treadmill though.

we have an ellptical. I personally prefer a treadmill but we are on the third floor of an apartment building and they are just too noisy.

We originally went to Sports Authority (maybe?) and the selection they had was awful. The prices were pretty good (~$400-700) but the machines were really bad. We went to a True Fitness store (which sells higher end equipment) and tested out everything from the lower end machines to the top of the line $5500 elliptical that reminded me of the terminator.

I don't remember all of the brands, but our favorite was actually one of the cheapest ones in the store (still a high end machine, but nothing ridiculous). FH wanted to get one with adjustible stride since he's 6'2 and i'm 5'4 so we did, but we never adjust it anymore. There were 2 models of the one we liked, one with a manually adjusted stride and one with automatic (~ $400 more) but we went with the manual one because you just adjust it like any other gym equipment and I preferred the display, which I felt would affect me more on a daily basis. Plus, the price of course

I think we got Sports Art but I'll get off my lazy butt in a few minutes and check the brand and model number if you want. I think we paid ~ $1600 (incl. tax) for ours + $200 or so in delivery and set-up.

I like the elliptical more than the treadmill but that's just me. I know a lot of people who swear by their treadmill. FH's parents bought an elliptical over Christmas from Dicks in Roosevelt Field. They got a good deal on it so check there.

I had an elliptical and I used it for 2 weeks and had to get rid of it bc I felt like I was gonna drop dead on it LOL -- I think you're better off on a treadmill or a stationary bike

i feel the ellipitcal. is better because it is less weight on your joint. and you burn more, i started using the ellipitical and i wont go back to the treadmill again.

I use the elliptical all the time at the gym. My word of advice is that you buy a GOOD one. Don't buy a cheap one (Like 300 or so) They are bad for your back and don't glide as nicely. I'd invest in one that is about 1000.
