NWR: Embarrassing situation
At my office building, we have a cafeteria downstairs and a new girl started working there as a cashier. I go to pay for my meal earlier today.New girl: So what do you do?
Me: I work as xxxxxx at(insert company).
New girl: No, WHEN are you due?
ME: ....oh, I'm not pregnant.
I had thought I misheard her the first time since she was new.
Ugh!! And when I told her I wasn't, she was really embarrassed and definitely felt sorry, offered the next meal on her. I did my best to save face and beeline it back to my office. I cried for a little bit at my desk, and then for a little bit in my boss' office (her and I have a very good relationship.) She definitely made me feel better though.
This hadn't happen to me in a while and I do carry a bit of weight in my gut, and I am wearing a dress that is tighter on me than the last time I wore it, but I did not want to start my week like this. Plus, I'm going dress shopping next Monday and to have that on my mind now....

I think it is SO rude to ask that question to someone,I don't get people....when I went to the seamstress she said do some crunches, at first I was offended, but then I thought it was a wakeup call and lost 5 pounds since then. I know it stinks someone asking that, but for me it helped make a move into losing the last 10 pounds...mine all goes to my stomach and my arms.

I agree, that's a rude and risky question unless you are so obviously pregnant. I used to work at a bank and a loud customer yelled 'you're pregnant!?' while we had a line of people. I was so embarrassed!

Yeah, I mean, I know I've put on weight in the last 6 months. FH and I are planning to lose some pounds, it's just a matter of motivation. And with my work pants ripping on me as I went to sit in my car on Thursday, it's even more of a message from the universe. It's just a fat week for me.

So sorry you had to go through that :( I would never ask someone I didn't know if they were pregnant- how rude!I hope you enjoy dress shopping and find something that you will feel amazing in and makes you forget all about the girl's comment.

I totally feel your pain with this, I suffer with this issue A LOT. The gut thing runs in my family and having a curved back doesnt help the situtation... People should not ask things like that especially when they dont even know you like that.I have learned to have a reply that puts people in such a shock they feel bad to the point where they know not to do that anymore to anyone else. Make them feel as awkward as you feel.
At my job someone came to me in the lobby and pulled me to the side and outloud asked if I was expecting. I looked at her dead in the eye and said outloud 'No I'm just fat, thanks for pointing it out' and I followed it with the biggest proud smile. I've had a woman at my job tell me to stop eating or else I'm not gonna fit into my wedding dress (yeah someone went there) while I was eating my lunch. I turned around looked her in the eye and stuffed my face and made a huge slurping sound and said 'Imma eat what I want dont tell me what to do.'
I love myself, my FH loves me the way I am and I'm sure you are fab and your FH know so too!
People are just outta place and sometimes need to be put right back into their place.
Everyone stuggles with weight in their own way but dont make someone's comment bring you down. If you wanna lose weight do it for you. Dont do it cause someone stepped outta place...

I can totally relate, happens to me more times than not!! I even had someone at work come up and rub my stomach, and this woman knows me!! People are just really obnoxious and don't know when to keep their mouths shut. You NEVER ask a woman if she's pregnant! Sorry you had to go through this!

Im so sorry that happened to you! I keep feeling bad because FH and I really didn't lose the weight we had hoped to by the wedding...but what are you going to do! When you go dress shopping you find the dress that flatters your body...the body that a man proposed to and intends to spend the rest of his life with. :)
