NWR- Excel

Okay, i'm at work and i have this massive phone list going. But some of the people are not here anymore so i hid there rows. But is there a way to group them that way when i unhide them i dont have to go through them again to hide just the selected rows??

What if you added a column titles -active or nonactive - here /not here and put yes or no accordingly - then you could sort by that column and finally hide the rows of 'not here' whether they are on the top or bottom of the page! make sense?!

Yeah! Great idea! That would work!

That is the best way to do it. I don't think there is anyway to sort it by the hidden lines. Just make a new colum and put here not here. and sort like that.

ITs a huge list of students.. there are already columns of name, student id, address, zip, state, phone number, degree, fall 06 comments, spring 07, support program..etc.. those are the columns, going down are the students. So when a student is no longer here i color code it depending on whether or not they graduated or withdrew. Now i hid the columns of previous semesters comments. But i wanted to hide the students who were no longer here. I didnt want to get rid of them in case the re-enter. But i'm thinking if i unhide all of them to change one student. I'll have to go back and hide the rest all over again.

you don't have to unhide all of them just that one colum. there is a way to do that. or if you don't wanna unhide all of them to find out where that student is. copy and past eit into a new worksheet and you will see which line that student is on so then you can unhide just that one line.

i was thinking of something like that. I mean its in alphabetical order, so it wont be hard to figure out where the student would go, i just thought there might be a way to group a selection of rows. I love excel and whatever i needed to do in the past there's been a way... so i figured it would be able to do something like that
