Ok, so I never used to be, but for some reason this past year I have developed a serious fear of flying...
Is anyone else scared of flying? How do you deal with it? I have heard that zanax is a really good solution, but have no idea how to go about getting it. Do you go to your regular doc?
I have to figure something out I have 3 destination weddings this year...plus my honeymooon...

Xanax definitely does help, you can just go to your regular doctor and they will give it to you. it just makes you and your nerves relax hahaha

Re: NWR: Fear of Flying
I don't have a fear of flying, but I do get really anxious.
I try to bring as many things to distract me as possible- puzzle books, reading, ipod, my favorite movies, ect. For longer flights, try taking a sleeping medication.

Re: NWR: Fear of Flying
I'm not personally scared of flying but my ex was extremely afraid of flying/heights etc and his mom lives in Vegas so we had to travel there a lot. I used to give him like 2 Benadryl Allergy as we were boarding the plane and he was knocked out cold before we even took off and woke up as we were in the middle of the flight. Once he woke up he was fine because he never had a window seat so he couldn't see outside and I always kept the window closed.
It's worth a shot

just so you know, xanax really is only 100% effective if you take it regularaly, then it will really calm you on a flight. i know everyone's bodies are differnet and some people may react to it right away, but this is just an fyi - to have a back up plan, lol!

I have a fear of flying. To me its such a big disability in my life. We had to drive to fl for my gpa's funeral because I refused to fly. I feel so bad for FH because he loves flying and now I have to get on a plane for hm and I'm already panicing about it. I don't even know where to go for help. I think is one of the worst fears to have because how am I ever going to see diffrent palces. Ugh! I'm afraid meds won't either.

My MOH has a terrible fear of flying and she uses Zanax when she goes to Greece. She says it works like charm. As for getting it, she's a pharmacist so that's how she gets her; a real one not the street kind But ask around I'm sure someone you know is on it, its like candy now a days

I hear you...my stomach is flipping just chatting about it....but I feel like it is really important to not let this fear get the best of me- even if that means having to drug myself to overcome it! lol..
maybe you can meet with your dr too? I am sure you can 'test run' the meds before hand....

Re: NWR: Fear of Flying
FH wasn't on a plane in 10 years. we just flew to Myrtle Beach (about an hour and 15 minute flight) on take off he almost broke my hand because he was freaking out. He had to get a small bottle of wine to relax! On the way back home he was much better. I was a little freaked out, but I made it through. Just tried to sleep through flight

Re: NWR: Fear of Flying
just hit up the nearest bar to your terminal when you get to the airport. That always conks FH out and he isn't even afraid to fly

Re: NWR: Fear of Flying
Everyone I talk to uses Xanax. You'll just fall asleep. Drs prescribe it as a PRN meaning you take on an as needed basis, you don't need to take it everyday.
