NWR: Feeling of Indifference?

NWR: Feeling of Indifference?

Anyone ever feel like they don't care about anything?

Lately, I've been going through a period in which I feel like don't really care about anything except my family and FH. I don't care about cleaning, doing laundry, cooking, work, working out, eating well, anything. I feel like those things I know I 'should' do are weighing me down, and I feel guilty for not doing them, but that doesn't make me do them. Like right now, I should be cooking, paying a bill online, working out, doing laundry or checking my work email - anything but browsing the internet. I do all of these things eventually - some sooner than others - but it takes me a long time to get the OOMPH to do them.

Other times, I feel so passionate about all of these things, or one in particular, that I can't wait to do it. (Except pay bills ).

There's much more to this in my mind - and I think a lot of it has to do with work and feeling like I do not have a 'calling' ... but I just wanted to know, does anyone else feel this way ever? How do you cope with it? I feel like I have lost all motivation, and I just want to give up on the exercising, healthy cooking, cleaning - everything - and just lay on the couch.

Do I need help??

PLEASE do not quote me.

Jenn

its completely normal. . .I've gone through phases like that too, I think most people do at one point or another. Its a combination of stress and being tired - and I always found that the less I did, the less I wanted I do - its a snowball.

If you're feeling like you aren't doing something fabulous at work, can you supplement it with something else? I was upset because I felt like I always thought my job would be something that really 'made a difference' I think I got kind of depressed when I realized that all I was going to be was an accountant - and I started looking for other things to make me feel good, ie, I got involved in raising money for breast cancer research and now I'm looking to join a book club (I'm such a dork, I know)

I don't think you need 'help' I think that you just need to find something that makes you feel good about you. . separate from Matt and your family. The more you things you do, the more you will be motivated to do!

Call me if you need to vent!!

PS - I'm drinking a Hoegaarden right now

When reading your post, I almost felt like I was reading one of those teen magazine articles where you take a quiz and it matches your life to description a, b, or c.

The description you just made of what you're going through describes me PERFECTLY! My wedding was a month ago and I still haven't sent the invites out. I know that's horrible etiquette. I also haven't even STARTED applying for a job yet when all my other friends in my field started months ago but I used the 'well I'm getting married soon' excuse and claimed it was too much to focus on. I just keep making excuses for myself. Either something or other is too this or too that.

wait, what invites haven't you sent out?

back to the OP: we ALL feel this way. I am a lazy POS. I still never sent out shower thank yous. My apt is a mess and only worse since DH moved in. I get all these things in my head that i want to do after work and then I end up going out or coming home and passing out. there is nothing wrong with you, trust me.

i think everyone goes through a period like that and it tends to cycle, hang in there and it will turn around
if you want a work out buddy let me know
and there is no harm in getting a house cleaner for a little while too

I think I went thru the same thing around the same time before the wedding. Its ok to be like this for a bit. Wedding work and life makes your head spin a bit. Take th time for yourself but if you notice yourself in this rut fo rmore than a week then i would say talk to someone That may just do the trick.

BTW I still feel like that at times. I give myself the day(s) and then get back in the groove .

I feel ya there. I go through the period where I feel sort of numb regarding the things around me. Cleaning, laundry, cooking...haha whats that?? I used to be so good about it but now I could care less. We all go through it so don't feel like your the only one. I wish I could say this is how you get out of it....but maybe when someone figures it out they can let us know.

Thanks ladies. It is more than feeling lazy .. it's a feeling of 'why bother? it's just gonna get dirty tomorrow again.' Or, 'why work out? who cares what I look like?' And the utter frustration I feel with not having a job I like or care about - it just *****.

I am better today, but am getting my . next week, so that would explain some of this. The job thing is always there though.

Work is crazy busy so I won't be on much today, but I wanted to say thanks for responding.

And Coleen, I have wanted to join a book club for ages. Let's chat, we can start our own. I have a few other peeps who are interested.

I feel exactly the same way more often lately - I feel kind of stuck in place. I believe everyone goes through this at different times in life. With all of the changes in our (fellow brides) lives life can be overwhelming. I hope you feel better soon

I think it could be one thing that is going on right now that you aren't thrilled with and it's bringing you down on other things.
