ok- so i'm a speech therapist at a school. i jsut had a group of 5th graders ( 10 year olds), and i had them do a writing assignment. they each had a topic and had to write about it and then read it outloud to practice their 'good speech'. SOO... this one girl gets teh topic ' what i wuold do with 1 million dollars'. so she writes ' i would go to the coach store, the fendi store, abercrombie..' WHAT?!?! what 10 year old even knows what fendi is?? i was trying so hard to either not crack up, or not yell ' what is your mom teaching you??' LOL

I use to be the Assistant Manager at Burberry. A mother came in one day to buy her daughter an entire Burberry outfit, from the hair clip down to the shoes because her daughter was going to be 'Burberry girl' for halloween!!!! Whatever happened to just being a witch for halloween????

OMG! That's really bad. These moms are nuts!! The kid will never know what it's like to be a cat or a witch?!

I totally agree. It's gotten out of control. These little girls carrying Coach bags, etc.... There is so much peer pressure to fit in with this stuff. One thing I don't like about some parts of Long Island. I will not be the type of Mom to buy things like that for my kids. They will learn to build character by standing up to peer pressure!

Re: NWR: fendi for 10 year olds
It's so sad but true. My younger cousins all have nicer clothes than me, bags, phones, etc, etc. They are above Coach now, all they want are Louie bags. Geez, I just got my first one this year, for my 30th birthday. I'm scared to have kids, they are going to cost me a fortune. I never had stuff like that.

Its so true! Speaking of Starter Jackets...I used to love 'borrowing' Mike's Yankees Starter in school to run out for lunch...it used to smell like him ooohhhh yeahhhh (this is after we 'broke-up)...

Re: NWR: fendi for 10 year olds
hah! My former boss makes 1.6 mill a year. she doesn't get to spend any time with her daughter, so she pays her off in a way....
right before I quit I heard my boss tell her husband 'I told_____ if she does her homework than you will take her to get a mani/pedi and a blowout' - the girl is 12!!!!!
Yuck. Don't even get me started on kids today! What I want to know is what the hell are the parents thinking?!?! I'll never forget my cousin's batmitzvah 4 years ago. All her 'little' 12 year old friends were skanked out (they all looked 18 minimum) and every single one of them was carrying a designer bag and wearing tiffany's jewelry. And to top it all off about 6 of them molested my sister's then bf. MOLESTED! 12 year old girls were hitting on a 23 year old man in front of my sister and my family!! They surrounded him and started pinching his a$$, asked him to 'make out' with them in the corner - it was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. Yuck! Ok, slightly off tangent, but I got worked up.

she was trying to impress me and i guess i was hard on her but it just got me so infuriated. . . here's an idea! every time you have an urge to buy your child a $400 bag - put that into your kid's college fund so they can actually make something of themselves
